Employment Conferences: Sharing the Learning
We are pleased to announce that we are organising four conference days in Coventry, London, Manchester and Exeter. These will be free events for SEND leads and education providers to share good practice in furthering young people's opportunities and successful take up of employment.
Employment is a central pathway for Preparing for Adulthood in the SEND reforms. There is a strong social and economic case to improving opportunities for young people with SEND to leave education with jobs and sustainable careers. As well as significant benefits for young people themselves, there are clear benefits for employers and for society as a whole.
These conferences will provide an opportunity to share: learning about what best supports young people with SEND to move into employment; the evidence-base for employment pathways; examples of good practice and an update on the national vision; and an overview of support from the Department for Work and Pensions for young people with SEND.
Full details of the conference sessions, workshops and speakers will be listed on each venue’s event page.
