The Department for Education have developed an outcomes tool that is designed to support the development of PfA outcomes in EHC plans across the age range. It explores the key indicators for preparing for adulthood at different ages and stages of development.
DfE are adjusting the minimum English and maths requirements to Entry Level 3 Functional Skills for a defined group of people with learning difficulties and disabilities who are able to meet the occupational standard of their apprenticeship but will struggle to achieve the regular English and maths minimum requirements.
As part of the PfA demonstration sites, Cheshire West and Chester and Newcastle upon Tyne have been developing their practice in relation to personalisation and Personal Budgets. For those children and young people with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans there is a right to request a Personal Budget. In order for Personal Budgets to be most effective they need to be considered alongside joint commissioning across education, health and care.
