We are delivering a series of 5 free events across
England for local areas. These events will share best
practice in supporting young people to move into adulthood with
equal life chances. They will provide an opportunity for local
areas to reflect on what is working and not working locally, map
how they are doing and set local priorities for change.

Aim of Event
This event shares what helps young people (including young
people with complex needs) move into adulthood with paid
employment, independent living, good health and community
inclusion. Preparing for Adulthood's top
ten messages for local areas, which set out what needs to
happen in local areas to ensure that disabled young people lead
full lives, will be used to support teams to reflect on what's
working and not working locally and identifies priorities for
change.

- Find out what the Preparing for Adulthood programme is
about
- Know what best practice looks like
- Evaluate local practice against this and put together an action
plan for achieving PfA 10 key messages
- Chance to network with others and identify approaches to
developing cost effective support that is person centred and
outcome focussed.
- Know what resources are out there to help
- Know what PfA can do to help.
Who is the event for? (Maximum 4 people per event from one
LA)
This day provides an opportunity to reflect on current practices
and set local priorities, and therefore we recommend that local
areas attend in teams of 4, that include senior decision makers
from children and adult health and social care, post 16
commissioners, employment agencies and local Family Forum
members.
Delegates could include:
- Local leads and decision makers with a focus on young people
with SEN and Disabilities
- Local authority children's commissioners Assistant Directors of
children's services
- Assistant Directors of adult services
- Service heads of children/adult services
- Children and young people health commissioners of
- Post 16 commissioners
- Transition champions
- Local family forum and young people's forum members
